About

I mostly covered what this blog is about in the first post, which you can find here: Literology 101. But, I guess you might have some more questions, so here you go:

Who are you?

Call me Caitlin. Since that’s my name. And it would be pretty silly of me to tell you to call me something that wasn’t my name. Unless it was like…a cool nickname. Like…Hank.

What makes you qualified to talk about books?

Well, I’ve been reading for nearly my whole life at this point, and I think it’s safe to say that I really like books. I read constantly, and own enough books to have my own small, personal library (230 books and counting!).

But aside from that, which I think should be qualification enough, I also went to school for Creative Writing, and got a degree in it, like a giant nerd who never wants to make any money in her whole life. While my degree won’t get me many glamorous jobs, it did teach me a lot about the art of telling a good story, and how to recognize when a story isn’t accomplishing what it should be accomplishing. Obviously my opinions are still EXTREMELY subjective, but at least they’re backed up by years of studying, so hopefully that’s at least a little better.

What type of books do you typically review on here?

I mostly read fantasy and sci-fi (WAY more fantasy than sci-fi, if we’re being honest), and my reviews are all focused on books that I’m currently reading, so get read for lots of dragons and magic in these reviews. I’ll be looking at a mix of classics (like the Wheel of Time books) and more recent books (from authors like Sanderson, Weeks, Jemisin and more).

You can expect to see some other genres pop up as well, since I tend to just read whatever draws my attention. I have a soft spot in my heart for history books (Erik Larson being a personal favorite), and of course there will be reviews of more literary fiction, some romance, some YA novels, and more. For books like those, I may have to edit the types of categories I rate the books in (or at least change what those categories are talking about, depending on the genre), but we’ll cross that bridge when we get to it.

I violently disagree with you and think you’re stupid!!!

Well that’s…unfortunate. I always welcome differing opinions, because if I didn’t like discussing books with people I wouldn’t have started a book review blog. So if you disagree with me, you can always leave a (calm) comment on the post in question, and I’ll do my best to respond! Offensive language and hate-speech will be ignored. I mean, come on, this is a book review website, we should all be friends here, right?

If you have TOO MANY OPINIONS to just leave a comment, head over to the Contact tab, where you can find my email and tell me all of your thoughts. Again, I will do my best to respond, but please realize that I also have a full time job and I can’t just drop everything to immediately answer your email (as much as I’d like to). And again, offensive language and hate-speech will not get a response. I wish I didn’t have to say that, but this IS the internet, after all. And the internet can be a scary, scary place.

I have more questions that aren’t answered here!

Again, shoot me an email! If I get enough emails asking the same thing, I’ll edit this page.

Thanks for reading!
